Band prices vary widely, and two quotes can look similar but include very different things. Understanding what you are paying for helps you choose well.

What affects the price

  • Number of musicians and whether there is a singer.
  • Duration of the booking and the time of day.
  • Extras such as lights, a decorated sound cart, smoke, or matching turbans.
  • Travel distance to your starting point.
  • The wedding season and popular muhurat dates, when demand is highest.

Compare quotes properly

Ask every band for a written quote that lists:

  • the number of musicians and instruments,
  • the hours included and the overtime rate,
  • the uniforms and any lighting or extras,
  • travel and any other charges,
  • the advance and when the balance is paid.

Then compare like with like. A cheaper band with fewer musicians and shorter hours may not be better value.

Tips for better value

  • Book early in the season, before the best dates fill up.
  • Keep the baraat route reasonable; long processions add overtime.
  • If you need music at both the haldi and the baraat, ask for a combined rate.
  • Choose a slightly smaller band with strong musicians over a large band of mixed quality.

Before you pay

Visit or call the band office, confirm that the band has a fixed address and contact, and get a receipt for every payment. Save the band leader's number for the wedding day.
